led with the familiar phrase, "I've had the craziest dream." Unsettled yet elated,

her past.

The song looped four, maybe five times, and then the lights flickered. The elevator
jolted and resumed its journey. The doors slid open, revealing an empty corridor,
silent except for the distant murmur of a TV from one of the rooms. Caroline stepped
out, feeling a blend of relief and lingering confusion.

The next morning, eager to unravel the previous night's mystery, she thanked the
reception staff for their prompt action and the comforting music.

"What music? And what lift malfunction?" the receptionist stared at her, befuddled.
"We don't have an engineer on duty, and we certainly don't play music in our
elevators."

Confused and uneasy, Caroline collected her bags and headed for the exit. Just as
she was about to step into the sunlight, she looked up and found herself staring at
